Corrections and Retractions
Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sains Islam Interdisipliner (JIPSI) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors, omissions, or concerns regarding the validity or ethical integrity of a published article are identified, the journal will assess the matter carefully and take appropriate action in accordance with established publication ethics principles.
Authors, readers, reviewers, and other interested parties are encouraged to report suspected errors or concerns to the editorial office, providing a clear explanation and relevant supporting evidence.
1. Corrections
A correction may be issued when a published article contains an error or omission that affects the accuracy, clarity, or completeness of the publication but does not invalidate its overall findings or conclusions.
Examples may include errors in author information, affiliations, acknowledgments, references, data presentation, figures, tables, or other published content.
The editorial team will evaluate the nature and significance of the reported error and consult the authors or other relevant parties when necessary. If a correction is warranted, the journal will publish a correction notice describing the error and the corresponding amendment.
Corrections will be linked to the original article whenever technically possible to ensure that readers can identify the changes and understand their significance.
2. Retractions
A retraction may be considered when the reliability or ethical integrity of a published article is seriously compromised. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:
-
Reliable evidence of data fabrication or falsification.
-
Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of others' work.
-
Serious errors that invalidate the principal findings or conclusions.
-
Duplicate publication or substantial redundant publication without appropriate justification.
-
Unethical research practices or significant violations of research ethics.
-
Undisclosed manipulation of the publication or peer-review process.
-
Other serious forms of misconduct that undermine confidence in the article.
Retraction is intended to alert readers that the findings or content of an article should not be relied upon as part of the established scholarly record. A retraction does not necessarily imply that all authors were responsible for the problem.
3. Expressions of Concern
When credible concerns arise but the available evidence is insufficient for an immediate decision, JIPSI may issue an expression of concern.
This notice may be used while the editorial team seeks clarification, evaluates supporting evidence, consults independent experts, or awaits the outcome of an investigation by a relevant institution.
An expression of concern may be followed by a correction, retraction, or another appropriate editorial decision when sufficient information becomes available.
4. Investigation and Decision-Making
All reports concerning possible errors or misconduct will be assessed fairly, objectively, and confidentially to the extent appropriate.
The editorial team may:
-
Review the report and supporting evidence.
-
Request an explanation or relevant documentation from the authors.
-
Consult reviewers, editorial board members, independent experts, or relevant institutions when necessary.
-
Evaluate the evidence and determine the appropriate editorial action.
-
Inform the relevant parties of the decision, where appropriate.
Editorial decisions will be based on the available evidence, the seriousness of the issue, and its implications for the reliability of the scholarly record. The journal will not make a decision solely on the basis of an allegation without appropriate assessment.
5. Publication of Notices
Correction, retraction, and expression-of-concern notices should clearly identify the affected article and explain the reason for the editorial action to the extent appropriate.
Where technically possible, notices will be linked to the original article, and the article's publication record will be maintained transparently. Retracted articles may remain accessible for the purpose of preserving the scholarly record, provided they are clearly identified as retracted and handled in accordance with the journal's publication system and applicable ethical standards.
6. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are expected to notify the editorial office promptly if they discover a significant error in their published work or become aware of credible concerns affecting its reliability or ethical integrity.
Authors should cooperate with the editorial team by providing relevant explanations, data, documentation, or other information necessary to evaluate the matter.
Failure to agree with a proposed editorial action does not prevent the journal from taking appropriate action when the available evidence supports it.
7. Institutional Involvement
When a reported concern may involve research misconduct or a serious breach of ethical standards, JIPSI may contact the authors' affiliated institutions, research organizations, funding bodies, or other relevant authorities, as appropriate.
The journal's editorial actions are intended to protect the integrity of the scholarly record and are separate from any institutional investigation or disciplinary process.
8. Appeals and Reconsideration
Authors or other relevant parties may submit a reasoned request for reconsideration of an editorial decision, supported by additional evidence or a clear explanation of the grounds for appeal.
The editorial team will review such requests objectively. Where appropriate, the journal may seek independent advice before reaching a final decision. The submission of an appeal does not automatically suspend an editorial action considered necessary to protect readers and the scholarly record.
9. Commitment to Publication Integrity
JIPSI is committed to addressing significant errors and publication-integrity concerns in a timely, transparent, and responsible manner. The journal will select the form of editorial action that is proportionate to the nature and seriousness of the issue, with the primary objective of maintaining the accuracy and credibility of scholarly communication.
This policy should be read together with JIPSI's Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, Allegations of Research Misconduct, Conflict of Interest, and Post-Publication Discussion policies.
