Conflict of Interest

Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sains Islam Interdisipliner (JIPSI) is committed to ensuring transparency, objectivity, and integrity throughout the research, peer review, and publication processes. A conflict of interest may arise when personal, financial, professional, academic, or other relationships could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the judgment of authors, reviewers, or editors.

JIPSI requires all parties involved in the publication process to disclose relevant conflicts of interest to support fair editorial decisions and maintain the credibility of the scholarly record.

1. Conflicts of Interest for Authors

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial interests that may influence the research, its interpretation, or the presentation of its findings. Such interests may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial support, grants, sponsorships, or funding from organizations that may benefit from the research outcomes.

  • Employment, consultancy, honoraria, or other financial relationships with relevant organizations.

  • Personal, professional, or academic relationships that may affect the objectivity of the research.

  • Institutional affiliations or competing academic interests that could influence the interpretation of findings.

  • Relevant intellectual property interests, including patents or commercial interests associated with the research.

Authors should include a conflict of interest statement in their manuscript. If no relevant conflict exists, the authors should explicitly state that they have no conflicts of interest to declare.

2. Conflicts of Interest for Reviewers

Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and disclose any circumstances that could compromise their impartiality. A reviewer should decline an invitation or notify the editor if a potential conflict exists, including situations involving:

  • Close personal, professional, or collaborative relationships with one or more authors.

  • Direct competition with the research described in the manuscript.

  • Financial or other interests that could be affected by the publication decision.

  • Any other circumstances that may reasonably call the reviewer's impartiality into question.

The editor will determine whether the reviewer should proceed with the review or be replaced by another qualified reviewer.

3. Conflicts of Interest for Editors

Editors must make publication decisions based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and the results of peer review, without inappropriate influence from personal or financial interests.

Editors must disclose relevant conflicts and withdraw from handling a manuscript when their impartiality may reasonably be questioned. In such cases, another qualified editor or an appropriate independent editorial representative will manage the manuscript and oversee the editorial decision.

Editors must not use unpublished information obtained through editorial responsibilities for personal advantage or allow commercial, institutional, or personal considerations to improperly influence publication decisions.

4. Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support for the research and manuscript preparation. Funding information should identify the supporting organization and, where applicable, the relevant grant or funding reference.

Authors should also clarify the role of the funding source in the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and decision to submit the work for publication. If the funder had no such involvement, this should be stated where relevant.

5. Disclosure and Management Procedures

Potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed at the time of manuscript submission. If a conflict becomes apparent after submission or publication, the relevant party must inform the editorial office promptly.

JIPSI will assess disclosed conflicts and determine appropriate measures based on their nature and potential impact. These measures may include requesting additional disclosure, assigning an independent reviewer or editor, seeking clarification, or publishing a correction or other appropriate notice when necessary.

Disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically mean that a manuscript will be rejected. The purpose of disclosure is to enable transparent assessment and appropriate management of circumstances that could affect the integrity of the publication process.

6. Failure to Disclose

Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest may constitute a breach of the journal's publication ethics policy. Depending on the circumstances and seriousness of the omission, JIPSI may request clarification, require a correction, suspend editorial consideration, or take other appropriate action.

If an undisclosed conflict is identified after publication, the journal will assess its potential effect on the article and determine whether a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other editorial response is warranted.

7. Commitment to Transparency

JIPSI expects authors, reviewers, and editors to act honestly and transparently in disclosing and managing conflicts of interest. All declarations will be assessed fairly and handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics principles and applicable editorial policies.

This policy should be read together with JIPSI's Publication Ethics, Authorship Criteria, and Allegations of Research Misconduct policies.
