Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Sains Islam Interdisipliner (JIPSI) is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and accountability in determining authorship of scholarly publications. Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript, as well as responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the published work.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To be recognized as an author of a manuscript submitted to JIPSI, an individual must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, the collection of data, or the analysis and interpretation of research findings.

  2. Writing and Critical Revision: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.

  4. Accountability: Accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work and cooperate in addressing any questions or concerns regarding the research or its publication.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy these criteria. Contributors who do not meet the authorship requirements should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors.

2. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Activities such as providing funding, administrative assistance, routine technical support, language editing, or general supervision alone do not justify authorship. Individuals who contribute in these ways may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission.

JIPSI does not accept guest authorship, gift authorship, or ghost authorship. Guest or gift authorship refers to listing individuals who have not made qualifying contributions, while ghost authorship refers to omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions that warrant authorship.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office throughout the submission, peer review, revision, and publication processes.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and its final version.

  • Obtaining agreement from all authors regarding the author list and order of authorship.

  • Ensuring that the manuscript is original, properly attributed, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal.

  • Communicating editorial decisions and requests to all co-authors.

  • Disclosing relevant funding sources, conflicts of interest, and other information required by the journal.

4. Order of Authorship

The order of authors should be determined collectively by all authors before manuscript submission, based on their respective contributions and mutual agreement. JIPSI does not impose a universal ordering system, as conventions may vary across disciplines.

All authors share responsibility for ensuring that the agreed order accurately reflects their contributions. Any disagreement regarding authorship should be resolved by the authors before submission whenever possible.

5. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing to the editorial office, accompanied by a clear explanation and written agreement from all affected authors.

The editorial office may request additional documentation before considering the change. Authorship changes will not be approved automatically and must be justified by legitimate scholarly reasons. Where necessary, the editorial team may suspend the editorial process until the matter is resolved.

6. Authorship Disputes and Misconduct

JIPSI expects all authors to resolve authorship disagreements transparently and in good faith. If a dispute arises, the journal may request statements or supporting documentation from the individuals concerned and, where appropriate, seek clarification from their affiliated institutions.

Suspected authorship misconduct, including fabricated authorship claims, unauthorized changes to the author list, or deliberate omission of qualifying contributors, will be assessed in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy and applicable publication ethics guidelines.

7. Author Contributions and Acknowledgments

Authors are encouraged to describe their individual contributions clearly in the manuscript when required by the journal. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, writing, reviewing and editing, supervision, and project administration.

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, provided that their consent has been obtained.

8. Ethical Responsibility

By submitting a manuscript to JIPSI, the corresponding author confirms that the author list and order have been agreed upon by all authors and that each listed author has made a genuine contribution to the work.

All authors are expected to uphold the principles of honesty, transparency, academic integrity, and responsible scholarly communication. JIPSI reserves the right to investigate concerns regarding authorship and take appropriate editorial action when violations are identified.

This policy is intended to ensure that authorship accurately represents scholarly contributions and that all individuals listed as authors accept appropriate responsibility for the work published in JIPSI.
