Abstract

This study examines the implementation  of Pancasila as an ethical framework for Generation Z in navigating negative economic and political news in digital media. This qualitative study involved in-depth interviews with four Indonesian Generation Z participants aged 18–29 years, with data analyzed using NVivo 14. Findings reveal that social media exposure triggers frustration, skepticism, and declining trust. Generation Z responds by verifying information across media, choosing to remain silent when necessary, and expressing opinions wisely for educational purposes. Differences in perspectives are managed through tolerance, empathy, and discussions based on valid data. However, the implementation of Pancasila is perceived to be declining among Generation Z. Key challenges include political buzzers, opinion manipulation, and a lack of good examples from political elites. These challenges may hinder the application of Pancasila in supporting the Asta Cita agenda. This study integrates Pancasila ethics, Generation Z’s digital behavior, and efforts to support Asta Cita.
