Professionalism in the modern perspective is generally assessed in terms of competence, skills, and work effectiveness, while moral integrity is often regarded as a supporting aspect. The Qur’an offers a more holistic paradigm of professionalism by integrating competence and moral values as fundamental principles in the fulfillment of responsibilities. This study aims to analyze the concepts of ḥafīẓ, ʿalīm, qawiyy, and amīn in QS. Yūsuf [12]: 55 and QS. al-Qaṣaṣ [28]: 26 and to reconstruct a Qur’anic model of professionalism based on the integration of competence and integrity. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research, drawing on Qur’anic verses, classical and contemporary exegetical works, Arabic linguistic literature, and relevant academic sources. Data are analyzed using Toshihiko Izutsu’s semantic approach by examining the basic and relational meanings of each concept within the Qur’anic semantic field. The findings reveal that ʿalīm and qawiyy represent the competence dimension, encompassing knowledge mastery, technical ability, and work capacity, whereas ḥafīẓ and amīn represent the integrity dimension, encompassing trustworthiness, responsibility, and moral credibility. Based on these findings, this study proposes a Qur’anic model of professionalism that positions competence and integrity as interconnected and mutually reinforcing elements in the development of professionals who are knowledgeable, trustworthy, and accountable.
