Allegation of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, and other forms of unethical conduct in conducting, reviewing, or reporting research and preparing scholarly manuscripts. Amorti: Jurnal Studi Islam Interdisipliner is committed to maintaining the accuracy, credibility, and integrity of the scholarly record. When allegations of research misconduct or other serious irregularities arise, the editors are responsible for addressing them fairly, objectively, and transparently.

In handling suspected cases of misconduct, the Editors and Editorial Board follow the relevant principles and best-practice recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Allegations are assessed carefully, and an investigation is conducted when warranted. Manuscripts found to involve research misconduct may be rejected. If misconduct is confirmed in a published article, the journal will take appropriate corrective action, which may include issuing a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the violation. Any retraction notice will be linked to the original publication to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Procedures for Handling Allegations

The journal follows a fair and systematic procedure when addressing allegations of research misconduct:

  1. Initial assessment: The Editors evaluate the allegation to determine whether it falls within the scope of research misconduct or another significant breach of publication ethics. The credibility of the information provided and any potential conflicts of interest involving the complainant or other parties are also considered.

  2. Notification and response: If the allegation warrants further examination, the corresponding author will be contacted and invited to provide a detailed explanation on behalf of the co-authors. All relevant evidence and supporting documentation will be considered during the assessment.

  3. Further investigation: After reviewing the response, the Editors may seek additional information, consult independent experts, or request specialist assessment, including statistical or methodological review, where appropriate. The investigation will be conducted impartially, giving the parties concerned a reasonable opportunity to clarify the issues.

  4. Editorial decision and corrective action: Based on the available evidence, the Editors will determine the appropriate course of action. If the concerns can be resolved without establishing misconduct, the journal may request clarification, additional analysis, or a formal correction. Where serious violations are substantiated, stronger measures, including rejection or retraction, may be necessary.

  5. Institutional involvement: When appropriate, the journal may refer the matter to the author's affiliated institution or other relevant authorities for further investigation. Institutions are expected to investigate allegations thoroughly and take appropriate action in accordance with their applicable research integrity policies.
