Implementation Of Moral Education Through The Tadabbur And Tafakkur Methods Of The Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 177, Among Students At The Bait Qur’any Ciputat Qur’an Memorization Boarding School

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of moral education in shaping the character of Islamic boarding school students (santri), particularly in Qur’anic memorization institutions, where success in memorizing the Qur’an should be accompanied by the implementation of Islamic moral values in daily life. One educational approach that can be applied to strengthen students’ moral character is the method of tadabbur (deep contemplation and understanding of the Qur’anic verses) and tafakkur (reflection upon their meanings and relevance to life). This research focuses on the implementation of moral education through the tadabbur and tafakkur of Surah Al-Baqarah verse 177, a verse that contains comprehensive teachings regarding faith, righteousness, social responsibility, honesty, patience, and commitment to fulfilling promises. The study aims to describe the process of implementing moral education through these methods among students at Pondok Pesantren Tahfizh Al-Qur’an Bait Qur’any Ciputat and to identify the moral values instilled through the learning process. Furthermore, this research seeks to explore how the integration of Qur’anic understanding and reflection contributes to the internalization of moral values and the development of students’ character in the context of Islamic education.

This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research design to obtain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon being studied. The participants of this study include the pesantren leader, teachers (ustadz and ustadzah), and students who are directly involved in the implementation of the tadabbur and tafakkur methods. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis is conducted through the processes of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings are expected to provide a comprehensive description of how moral education is implemented through the contemplation and reflection of Surah Al-Baqarah verse 177 and to reveal its impact on the formation of students’ moral behavior. In addition, this study is expected to contribute to the development of Qur’an-based moral education models that integrate memorization, understanding, reflection, and practical application of Islamic values, thereby serving as a valuable reference for Islamic educational institutions seeking to strengthen character education through meaningful engagement with the Qur’an
